Z -- OVERHAUL ESCALATORS 1 - 8 GENERAL MAIL FACILITY, BOSTON, MA SOL 082530-96-A-0158 DUE 082896 POC Richard Whiddon, Project Manager (860) 285-7219. On or about Tuesday, July 30, 1996, the United States Postal Service, Facilities Service Office, 6 Griffin Road North, Windsor, CT will issue a solicitation to overhaul escalators 1 - 8 at the General Mail Facility, 25 Dorchester Avenue, Boston, MA. Work includes, but is not limited to, providing all necessary materials, labor, tools and equipment required to dismantle, repair, and overhaul eight (8) Otis escalators. Sealed offers are due on or before Thursday, August 28, 1996 no later than 4:00 p.m. EST. Award will be based on price and other factors. The estimated cost of the work is between $500,000.00 and $600,000.00. The contract completion time is one hundred fifty (150) calendar days. THERE WILL BE NO PUBLIC OPENING OF THE PROPOSALS AND THE RESULTS OF THE ADVERTISEMENT WILL NOT BE PUBLISHED UNTIL AWARD OF THE PROJECT. There will be a preproposal conference held on Thursday, August 8, 1996 beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Room B27A (basement level) of the General Mail Facility, 25 Dorchester Avenue, Boston to discuss the specifics of this project. Attendance is not mandatory but is strongly suggested. Site visits may be arranged by contacting Jack Manchini, Maintenance Engineering Specialist at (617) 654-5149. Work includes, but is not limited to, providing all labor, materials and equipment to dismantle, repair and overhaul eight (8) Otis escalators. The work also includes replacement of drive chains, handrails, combs, guides, pulley assemblies, treads, etc. as noted in the specifications as well as installation of lubrication boxes.
