Specialist, 301/415-6743 This is a commercial item. The U.S. Nuclear
Regulatory Commission intends to enter into a sole source contract with
Silicon Graphics, Incorporated for hardware and software support of the
SGI server systems located at the NRC Technical Training Division (TTD)
in Chattanooga, TN. The procurement shall be conducted using other than
full and open competition in accordance with FAR 6.302-1. The period of
performance is one year with four additional one year options. The TTD
uses a variety of workstations and servers manufactured by SGI as
development and computation platforms for the Nuclear Engineering
Workstation (NEWS), the BWR/4 simulator Safety Parameter Display
Station (SPDS), the Combustion Engineering simulator's main simulation
computer, and as the file servers for TTD's simulator engineering
network. As manufacturer of the proprietary hardware and software used
in the computers, SGI will provide software updates to the worstation
systems and attendent development tools used by TTD's engineers and
provide hardware support unavailable from other sources to the server
systems. Interested respondents must submit a written capability
statement including technical information sufficient to demonstrate a
bona fide capability to meet this requirement to the address shown
above. Telephonic responses and responses providing insufficient
information for evaluation will not be considered. Closing date for
proposals is 20 days after issue date of solicitation. See Note 22.
