The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission intends to enter into a sole source contract with Silicon Graphics, Incorporated for hardware and software support of the SGI server systems located at the NRC Technical Training Division (TTD) in Chattanooga, TN. The procurement shall be conducted using other than full and open competition in accordance with FAR 6.302-1. The period of performance is one year with four additional one year options. The TTD uses a variety of workstations and servers manufactured by SGI as development and computation platforms for the Nuclear Engineering Workstation (NEWS), the BWR/4 simulator Safety Parameter Display Station (SPDS), the Combustion Engineering simulator's main simulation computer, and as the file servers for TTD's simulator engineering network. As manufacturer of the proprietary hardware and software used in the computers, SGI will provide software updates to the worstation systems and attendent development tools used by TTD's engineers and provide hardware support unavailable from other sources to the server systems.
