Z -- REPLACE AIR COMPRESSORS, BUILDING 403, NAVAL AIR STATION, OCEANA, VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA SOL N62470-95-B-3552 DUE 090596 POC Contact Point, Donna Miller, (757) 433-3623, Contracting Officer, Karla McGrath, (757) 433-2621 The work includes replacing the compressors supplying starting air to the FITWING ramp area at the Naval Air Station, Oceana. The existing three compressors are old three stage, water cooled, reciprocating types that are highly unreliable, and expensive and difficult to maintain. They are to be replaced with new two stage, air cooled, screw type compressors with microprocessor controls. New refrigerated air dryers will be installed. Changes required to building ventilation required by the air cooled compressors will be made. The new compressors will operate on 480 volts vice 4160 for the existing units. This requires the replacement of the existing transformer and switchgear at the building. The existing compressors, electrical controls, chilled water system, and transformer will be removed. In addition to the equipment replacement, this project will remove asbestos that has been found in the window glazing, office floor tiles and roof and incidental work at the Naval Air Station, Oceana Virginia Beach, Virginia. Plans and Specifications will be available on 05 August 1996. Bid Opening Date is 05 September 1996. A limited number of bid packages will be available and issued on a first come first serve basis. No charge will be made for the first set of specifications available to each requestor. Estimated cost range $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. This project is not set aside for small business concerns.
