Archaeological services for Phase I Archaeological Survey of Ground
Disturbance Areas 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, and 10 located on Redstone Arsenal,
Alabama. Redstone Arsenal is located in Madison County in North Central
Alabama. It is bound on the East and Northeast by the city of
Huntsville and on the South by the Tennessee River. It is approximately
six miles wide and ten miles long and occupies 57.2 square miles.
Section 111(a)(2) of the National Historic Preservation Act (as
amended), requires Redstone Arsenal to perform and maintain an
inventory of cultural resources. Areas with extreme amount of
disturbance over a majority of the tract will only need a general
reconnaissance, whereas areas not significantly disturbed will need to
be intensively surveyed (i.e. shovel test transects). The survey and
subsequent laboratory analysis and report will be performed in a manner
as to adhere to the Alabama Historical Commission's Policy For
Archaeological Survey and Testing in Alabama. Potential bidders must
have capability and show at least five years experience in
multi-disciplinary, research oriented archaeological work. Further,
potential bidders must have and show at least three years experience in
the Middle Tennessee River Valley Region. A written request for the
