COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JULY 16,1996 PSA#1637U.S. EPA, Contracts Management Division, Cincinnati, OH 45268-7001 66 -- EXCIMER PUMPED TUNABLE PULSED DYE LASER SYSTEM SOL C600650T1 POC
Contact Point, Raoul D. Scott, (513)366-2071, Contracting Officer,
Raoul D. Scott, (513)366-2071 The Ecosystem Research Division of the
National Exposure Research Laboratory located in Athens, GA has a
requirement for a contractor to provide a fully integrated Excimer
Pumped Tunable Pulsed Dye Laser System. The laser will be used to
determine the cation binding properties of natural aggregate materials,
including soils, sediments, naturally occurring organic matter, and
aquifer materials. The laser system will be used as a tunable and
intense source of radiation to excite the fluorescence from the
forbidden F-D transitions of the Eu(III) ions. The information derived
from the research will assist EPA in reducing the uncertainties in
speciation as will as the distribution of the cations between the
aggregate materials and the aqueous phase. The laser system shall
consist of the following parts that shall be fully integrated and
assembled by the contractor: 1) Pulse Dye Laser and Note Book IBM
compatible computer to control two or more devices simultaneously; and
2) Excimer Laser. The performance specifications for the complete
integrated system will be provided as Attachment A of the solicitation.
The Government anticipates awarding a negotiated Firm-Fixed Price
contract. Award is anticipated to be on or before 9/30/96. The standard
industrial code (SIC) is 5049. The solicitation will be processed using
