On or about Friday, July 5, 1996, the United States Postal Service, Facilities Service Office, 6 Griffin Road North, Windsor, CT, 06006-0300, will issue Solicitation No. 082530-96-A-0122 to replace the roof at the Main Post Office, 4 East Central Street, Worcester, MA. Sealed offers are due no later than Friday, August 2, 1996 NLT 4:00 pm EST*. In order to realize the greatest economic savings, the U. S. Postal Service is requesting all offerors submit two price proposals for this project. One price proposal will be based upon a contract award date of September of 1996 with construction commencing immediately following award. The second price proposal will be based upon a contract award date of September 1996 with construction commencing in March of 1997 (contract completion time in one hundred fifty (150) calendar days). The estimated cost of the work is between $700,000.00 and $800,000.00. *THERE WILL BE NO PUBLIC OPENING OF THE PROPOSALS AND THE RESULTS OF THE ADVERTISEMENT WILL NOT BE PUBLISHED UNTIL AWARD OF THE PROJECT. There will be a pre-proposal meeting on Friday, July 19, 1996 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Main Post Office, 4 East Central Street, Worcester, MA to discuss the specifics of this project. Attendance is not mandatory but is strongly suggested. Work includes but is not limited to providing all materials, labor and equipment required to remove the existing roof system and install a new fully adhered PVC roofing system. A proposal guarantee is not required. Performance and payment bonds on Postal Service forms will be required from the successful offeror. Proposal documents and specifications (including specifics relative to basis for contract award) may be purchased for $35.00 per set from the Support Service Team, Facilities Service Office, 6 Griffin Road North, Windsor, CT 06006-0300.
