Construction of an approximately 60 ft radar tower to consist of site demolition to include the removal of existing asphalt parking, existing chain link fencing, and a portion of an 8'' sanitary sewer main. Existing parking will be displaced during the construction of this project. Dewatering may be required approximately 2' below the bottom of the new foundation because ground water was found to be approximately 5'6'' below the surface. The existing sanitary sewer will be replaced with ductile iron under the footprint of the foundation. The foundation for the tower is a square cast-in-place concrete mat designed to support gravity and resist wind loads. The allowable soil pressure for the site is approximately 1,000 psf. The superstructure will be a structural steel braced framework with attached stairs on the exterior perimeter of the tower. A solid steel platform will be located at the top of the tower. The stairs will be of grated steel construction. New site work includes asphalt restoration and construction of additional fencing for a larger enclosed area. Two large gates and three personnel gates will be included in the new fencing. Construction dollar range is $100,000 to $250,000 under SIC 1623. Construction timeframe is approximately 180 days. There will be a $30.00 non-refundable deposit for each set of plans and specifications. No bid date has yet been established.
