BEHAVIORS Sol AA 96-04, Due 080996, POC Edward J. Kostolansky,
Contract Specialist, 301/443-1191, Roberta S. Wilhelm, Contracting
Officer, 301/443-1191. The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and
Alcoholism intends to negotiate a one-year contract with the Boston
University School of Public Health for a project entitled Alternative
Statistic Models for Alcohol Use and HIV High-Risk Behaviors. The
proposed contract will perform detailed analyses on previously
collected data, specifically the Boston Young Men's Study. This will
assist NIAAA in: (1) providing appropriate analytic procedures for
alcohol use and co-occurring risk behaviors; (2) revising the
alcohol-related instruments that are currently being used within the
HIVNET Vaccine Preparedness Study; and 93) serving as a basis for
evaluating future alcohol-related preventive interventions that are
being contemplated for the HIVNET Vaccine Preparedness Study.
Authority: 41 U.S.C. 25(c)(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1. This is the
only available data set that contains global, situational, and event
measures of drinking and unsafe sex among your gay men. The unique
feature of overlapping data sets with the HIVNET Vaccine Preparedness
Study sample make this data set the only one in which complete alcohol
information has been collected which bears on possible modifications
to the HIVNET Vaccine Preparedness Study. Inquiries must be made in
writing, telephone inquires are unacceptable. See Numbered Note 22 and
26 in the Commerce Business Daily. Proposals will be due on or about
August 9, 1996. (183) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0004 19960703\A-0004.SOL)
