Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate with
Sullair Corporation, 3700 East Michigan Blvd, Michigan City, IN 46360,
on a sole source basis to acquire an Exact Duplicate Helium Screw
Compressor Package consisting of the following: Sullair Compressor
Package Model C20LA 704-2.6-450 H.P. Helium Serial No. 056-R02729
Reliance Electric Motor I.D.#P44G5088A Compressor Serial No.
006-92006516 with extra Large Oil Cooler, 12 inches Dia x 10 Ft tube
length. Also includes two days of start-up supervision (to make
adjustments, alignments as required) by a Sullair service
representative. The Government requires documentation to include: the
Motor Data, Electrical Schematics, Piping Schematics, Spare Parts List,
and four (4) copies of the Operating and Maintenance Manuals-- Required
delivery within 24 weeks after contract award-- Includes required
shipping, testing and a one year warranty-- FOB Gaithersburg, MD--This
is a sole source procurement in accordance with Far 6.302-1, Only One
Responsible Source, because Sullair Corporation is the only source
that can provide an exact duplicate of the existing unit. They are the
manufacturer of the original refrigerator was configured for the
eventual addition of an identical backup unit to avoid the possibility
of a lengthy reactor shutdown due to compressor trouble. The
compressor building, its plumbing and electric power supplies, and the
remaining refrigerator components, were designed to accommodate a
second compressor that is exact duplicate of the existing unit. The
second compressor is being used for the 3.5-kW Helium Refrigerator
needed to operate the cold neutron source. Interested offerors may
identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirements
by submitting a capability statement. The capability statement must
provide adequate information and qualifications of your ability to
provide the requested system in order for the Government to consider
whether to open this request for competition. However, all capability
statements received within 45 days after date of this synopsis, will be
