Curtis (Site Code W31XNJ) The work consists of demolition and removal of an existing fender and construction of a new fender system protecting the bridge pier located in the river at the edge of the navigation channel. The work will have to be accomplished using floating plant and without interruption to railroad or barge traffic. The following construction procedures will be involved: sheet pile cell, drilled pipe frame, concrete fill, steel structure, ultra- high molecular weight plastic rub strips, and lighting. This procurement is a Competitive 8(a) Set-Aside as established by Section 8(a) of the Small Business Act (15 U.S.C. 637(a)). Only those firms meeting the Small Business Administration's (SBA) criterion, and have previously been certified by the SBA as an ''8(a) Contractor'', are eligible to compete for this procurement and ultimately be awarded a subcontract from the SBA. It has been determined by the SBA that competition will be restricted to 8(a) firms which have SIC Code 1629 among their approved SIC Codes and which are serviced by Region IV, SBA Offices in the States of Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Bid documents are available on or about 11 July 1996. Costs are as follows: Plans half size $5.00. Specifications $17.00. Cost of work is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Requests for Plans and Specifications shall indicate in writing whether firm will bid as a Prime contractor or a Subcontractor. Critical Path Method (Network Analysis System) is not required. Firm's physical address, telephone and facsimile numbers, and name of point of contact must also be provided to facilitate any overnight mailing required.
