(S) M. G. Lilienthal, (301) 295-0878 (DSN 295). The Naval Medical
Research and Development Command, and the Naval War College are hosting
the Medical Science and Technology Initiatives Game, VANGUARD 96. The
game is focused on biomedical Research, Development, Test and
Evaluation (RDT&E) and its support of the operational objectives set
for the Navy and the DoD in support of the conduct of Littoral Warfare
in the 2015+ era. The game will be conducted at the Naval War College,
Newport, RI. during 12-15 August 1996. The game will be conducted in a
seminar format and will address Medical Science and Technology
requirements, analyze technology issues and identify relevant
technologies to be pursued by the Navy's RDT&E community. This game is
a Navy Science and Technology first and is expected to be well
attended. It is the intention to involve DoD and Industry technology
managers in VANGUARD 96 but recognize that limited space is available.
Industry participants will be selected by lottery from a list of
potential participants which will be formulated from those requesting
participation with an on time submission of name and reason for
attendance. Industry participants should also have the same clearance
requirements as those attending from the government. All participants
should have a SECRET clearance and should be knowledgeable about
clinical and nonclinical technologies that will enhance Navy/Marine
Corps medical care while forward deployed ``From The Sea.'' Other areas
of interest include virtual reality, telemedicine, combat casualty
care, military operational medicine and sustainment operations. All
participants will be assigned to seminar cell positions. Nominations
