The Federal Aviation Administration, Western-Pacific Region, under the
newly implemented ''Federal Aviation Admistration Acquisition
Management System (FAAAMS)'' hereby publicly announces that it intends
to obtain fiber optic multiplexing equipment for Santa Barbara ATCT
through single source means from Racal-Datacom, Inc. utilizing their
Federal Supply Schedule Contract. The Racal equipment and proprietary
standardization requirements for the newly installed LAX Fiber Optic
Loop connected between LAX ATCT and associated FAA facilities within
the Los Angeles Airway Facilities Sector. This system utilizes the
Racal PREMNET 5000 fiber optic multiplex equipment. By utilizing
identical equipment in this loop the FAA is standardizing the type of
fiber optic equipment utilized within the Los Angeles Sector. The
equipment is controlled by proprietary software provided by
Racal-Datacom and allows the FAA technicians to route datA among the
