COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 21,1996 PSA#1621National Institute of Standards and Technology, Acquisition and
Assistance Division, Building 301, Room B117, Gaithersburg, MD 20899 66 -- TIME-OF-FLIGHT MASS SPECTROMETER FOR MATRIX-ASSISTED LASER
DESORPTION/IONIZATION (MALDI) ANALYSIS OF SYNTHETIC POLYMERS SOL
52SBNB6C9187 DUE 072996 POC Linda Shariati (301) 975-5053 The National
Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to procure a
time-of-flight mass spectrometer for matrix-assisted laser
desorption/ionization (MALDI) analysis of synthetic polymers. The
Contractor shall provide a fully-operational device to perform
matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry. The
device must measure mass using the time-of-flight method. It shall
function in both linear and reflectron (ion mirror) modes. The MALDI
shall have delayed extraction capabilities for improved resolution and
have post-source decay capabilities to study analyte fragmentation.
The device is to be used to study synthetic polymer molecular weight
distribution, primarily for NIST Standard Reference Material
certification, and shall be compatible with this purpose. The system
shall be versatile, amenable to upgrade with new technologies, and
demonstrate superior resolution and sensitivity. The Contractor shall
provide installation/set-up and on-site training of users as well as a
warranty of at least one year including parts and labor. NIST requires
delivery within 120 days of contract award - FOB Destination. The
Request for Proposals (RFP) will be available approximately fifteen
days after publication of this announcement and responses will be due
approximately thirty days after issuance. All responsible sources may
submit a proposal which will be considered by the agency. All requests
for the RFP must be in writing to the above mentioned address. (0171) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0323 19960620\66-0007.SOL)
