20535 66 -- X-RAY FLUORESCENCE SPECTROMETER SYSTEM SOL RFP-6979 POC Jim
Driscoll, Contract Specialist, 703-814-4910. The Federal Bureau of
Investigation (FBI) has a requirement for an X-Ray Fluorescence
Spectrometer System. The system must be brand name or equal to a Kevex
EDX-771 Secondary Target EDXRF Spectometer, meeting the following
salient characteristics: secondary x-ray excitation capability with a
minimum of six secondary targets, selectable by remote command and
without venting chamber; x-ray source minimum operating voltage of 5KV
or less, maximum operating voltage of 60KV or greater, ability to vary
operating current between .02mA and 3.3mA, maximum power dissipation at
target of between 180 and 500 watts, rhodium anode, current and voltage
selectable by remote command; capability for direct exicitation from
the primary x-ray source and remote selection of multiple X-ray filters
without the need for chamber atmosphere recycling; system shall have a
selectable operating environment to include a helium, vacumm, and air
operating enviroments capability; detector shall be made of lithium
drifted silicon and have an active area of 30mm 2, the detector window
will consist of beryllium and shall be no more than 5 microns in
thickness, the liquid nitrogen dewar supporting the detector shall have
a capacity of between 25 and 40 liters; System workstation computer
shall be a pentium or equivalent; System software shall operate under
Windows or Windows 95 operating environment, and shall include the
following capabilities -- quantitative materials analysis, quatitative
materials analysis, quantitative library matching, spectral comparison
processing, report generation, and automation of procedures; Sample
tray will have a minimum of 12 sample positions which can be changed
remotely and without recycling the chamber atmosphere; Sample chamber
shall have an illuminated viewing port to allow verification of sample
position and identity, chamber dimensions shall be 12 inches X 14
inches X 4 inches, or greater, and configured so as to allow for the
analysis of irregular shaped objects; System will operate on a 120 volt
service and input current shall not be more than 20 amps. Other
required items include: CFP software module; high resolution detector;
helium flush system; optional secondary targets of tin (Sn),
molybdenum (Mo), and yttruim (y) secondary target holders, (Qty of 3);
large bulk sample holder, memory upgrade (16 MB); and surfer/gragher
software. All request for solicitations shall be in writing,
referencing RFP-6979, and be postmarked no later than 15 calendar days
from the date of this publication. All inquires shall be in writing to
the FBI, Attn: James F. Driscoll, TCAU, PO Box 221286, Chantilly VA
