Contracts Specialist, 516-344-3199. Brookhaven National Laboratory,
located on Long Island, New York intends to solicit bids for the
following Sanitary System Upgrade Project. In general, work consists
of, but is not limited to, furnish plant, superintendence, skills,
labor, materials and all items necessary to construct: two
Owner-furnished modular aeration tank systems, return sludge (RAS)
pumping units, secondary treatment system panel and large piping and
fittings. Also included is a Contractor-furnished blower building,
primary effluent pumping station, ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system
in the contact chamber, an addition to the Service Building,
replacements of Flow Metering Building and the barminutors with
comminutors and elimination of the Barminutor and Hypochlorite
Buildings, together with all associated exposed, interior and
underground piping and valves, motor controls, electrical distribution
system, process instrumentation and H&V units; install other piping as
well as connections to existing chambers; and to install new fencing
and provide all site preparation, excavation, shoring, protection of
existing facilities and piping, paving, patching, fill, compaction and
finish grading. The above work is located on or about the existing
wastewater treatment plant on the property of the Brookhaven National
Laboratory in Upton, Long Island, New York. The Contractor shall
perform all work required for Phase I and II construction, maintaining
the existing Plant in continuous operation throughout the construction
period. All work shall be accomplished in accordance with the Contract
Documents and subject to the terms and conditions of the Contract as
well as all other provisions of the Contract Documents complete, tested
and ready for use. Alternate pricing will be required for the base bid
work without the Blower Building, including its respective heating,
lighting, wiring and ventilation features. The existing sanitary waste
treatment facility will remain in operation during the entire period
of performance. All work will be awarded on a single contract.
Estimated construction cost is $1,000,000 - $5,000,000. Estimated
construction time is 12 months. Bid documents will be available on or
about June 7, 1996. A non-refundable fee of $150 will be charged per
bid package. Checks should be made out to ``Brookhaven National
Laboratory''. Personal checks are acceptable. Requests for bid packages
received without proper payment will not be acknowledged. Note:
Brookhaven will be evaluating technical capabilities and related
