The National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration, National Marine Fisheries Service has a requirement for services to determine the level or numbers of Alaska Native takes of Steller sea lions, harbor seals, and beluga whales on a timely basis. This project shall be accomplished by (1) determining the statewide number of Steller sea lions and harbor seals taken annually by Alaska Natives; (2) determine the statewide number of beluga whales taken by annually by Alaska Natives; (3) continuation of established village monitoring system; (4) holding an annual statewide conference, or annual regional conferences to bring village monitors together for training, data exchange, and debriefing; and (5) collecting Steller sea lion, harbor seal and beluga whale tissue samples from subsistence animals taken by Alaska Natives. Contract performance period shall be from 09/30/96 through 09/29/97 with two one year option periods. All responsible sources may submit proposals which will be considered by the agency. (0165)
