Sprenger, 618-256- 9409/9408 Synopsis number 96180. The Defense
Information Technology Contracting Organization (DITCO) intends to
extend the sole source contracts with AT&T (DCA200-93-D-0047), MCI
(DCA200-93-C-0050), and Sprint (DCA200-93-C-0043) which provide the
Government Emergency Telecommunications Service (GETS). GETS provides
emergency voice band communications support to authorized national
security and emergency preparedness users in the event of damage or
congestion to the public switch network (PSN). The AT&T, MCI, and
Sprint networks carry the majority of the long distance traffic in the
United States, and as such, continue to have a significant role in
providing the required, ubiquitous GETS service. Due to the proprietary
nature of the IEC networks, no other contractor possesses the requisite
authority, technical data, or proprietary rights to provide the GETS
service. The GETS contract extensions will be for one base year and
contain provisions for six 1-year options. Contract modifications will
