This is a notice of intent to issue a sole source contract to COMSAT, 22300 COMSAT Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871. COMSAT is to provide international maritime sattelite communications for US Army Special Operations command for the period 1 October 1996 through 30 September 1997 with two (2) one-year period. Offerors who can furnish the required service, may submit, in writing, a proposal substandiated by technical data, FCC and Congressional authority and pricing. All responses must be received within 15 calendar days of the date of this CBD notice. All responses from responsible sources submitting the required information will be fully considered. As a result of analyzing responses to this synopsis of intent, the Contracting Officer may determine that a solicitation will be issued. If a solicitation is issued, no additional synopsis will be published. Any such solicitation will be issued to the intended vendor and all firms that respond to this synopsis of intent or otherwise request a copy of the solicitation. No contract award will be made on the basis of any responses to this notice, as the synopsis of intent shall not be considered a solicitation document. (155)
