J -- REPAIR OF BARGE SOL IFB 2-96-020-GR DUE 071696 POC Contract Specialist, Joseph B. Grainey (505)248-6794 extension 19. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 2 seeks bids to repair a barge. All work is to be performed at the contractors facility. The Barge is 1962 welded steel 102.2 feet long 30 feet wide 5.7 foot draft gross tonnage 164 tons, powered by 3 diesel engines driving one 52 inch propeller and two 24 inch propellers. Last hauled out in May of 1990. Work includes but is not limited to drydocking the barge, clean paint and rust from bottom, repaint bottom, inspect and test hull integrity. Inspect and repair as needed the propellers, rudders and stern bearings. The place of performance is unknown. The contracting officer has requested a wage determination for the following counties in the state of Texas: Hardin, Orange, Jefferson, Chambers, Galveston, Brazoria, Refugio, Aransas, San Patricio, Keleberg, Kenedy, Cameron, and Calhoun. The Contracting Officer will request wage determinations for additional possible places of performance if asked to do so in writing within 15 days from date of issue of the solicitation. Award will be made to the bidder who provides the low responsive, responsible bid in consideration of price and price related factors. This requirement is subject to the small business competitiveness demonstration program regulations and is not setaside for small business. It is estimated that evaluation of responses and award will be made by August 3, 1996. It estimated that the solicitation will be availble by June 11, 1996.
