ALASKA SOL DAHC76-96-R-0015 DUE 071596 POC Contact Point, Rosalie
Kvitek, Contract Specialist, or Shirley A. Lucas, Contracting Officer
at (907) 384-7105 or Facsimile (907) 384-7112 (Site Code DAHC76) The
U.S. Army intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source,
Airglas Engineering Co., Inc., Anchorage, Alaska under authority of FAR
6.302, for six (6) sets of fiberglass skis for HU-60A Helicopters, Fort
Wainwright, Alaska. The main body of the skis are constructed of
fiberglass isophthalic polyester with a top finish of Dusty Black or
Rough Black isophthalic polyester gel coating, and a bottom finish of
graphite filled epoxy resin finished with a Teflon urethane coating.
Skis are fixed penetration wheel skis with main wheels protruding six
inches below ski level when in snow, and three inches under the ski
when on hard surfaces. A full swivel tail wheel is spring mounted on
the aft of each ski to protect the ski during ground landing and allow
the use of the most simple type rigging system to maintain the flight
attitude of the ski. Landing gear skis consist of two main skis
installed on the main gear using axle adapters on the skis and an
adapter kit mounted on the main landing gear axles. Since the UH-60A
helicopters will be utilized as Medical Evacuation Helicopters, the
right main wheel ski must be hinged to allow for the use of a rescue
hoist. When skis are removed, the adapter kit may remain installed to
allow for ease of reinstallation of skis. One tail ski is mounted on
the tail wheel using axle adapters. Safety cables and spring cylinders
are mounted on all skis to maintain flight attitude and to prevent
damage to the skis during flight. Interested persons may identify their
interest and ability to respond to the Government's requirement. All
responses will be given consideration. A determination by the
Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to
this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. See
