Division, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Industrial Readiness
(DCSIR), is conducting a market survey of industry to identify
potential contractors capable of manufacturing conventional bomb bodies
in 500, 1000, and 2000 pound size designations. Specific facilities,
equipment, and skills required to manufacture subject items are as
follows:Sufficient production facilities to receive welded steel tubing
(up to 18 in. dia.), cut to length (up to 8 ft.), form nose and aft
ends, rough machine, cut holes and weld inserts, heat treat, finish
machine, test, paint, assemble, and ship.Specific equipment required
includes: band saws/cutoff machines, 1000 ton cold form presses, large
induction heaters, water cooling chambers, double end lathes, TIR
gages/fixtures, wall thickness gages, flame/plasma arc cutters,

total of 5000 units per month. The most recent monthly procurement
quantities with respective unit costs for the three size designations
(not necessarily produced concurrently) are as follows: 500 lb: 4200/mo
@ $466 each; 1000 lb: 1500/mo. @ $1038 each; 2000 lb: 1120/mo. @ $1838
