This is a presolicitation notice for the Improved Night/Day Observation/Fire Control Devices (INOD) program. The purpose of the INOD program is to provide the Special Operations Forces with an Integrated Night/Day scope for fire control, sniper rifles and strategic reconnaissance. The INOD will incorporate a third generation image intensifier tube with direct view capability. The device will be totally passive, lightweight, and battery powered. A requirement exists for 800 production units. Estimated schedule is as follows: RFP releases Oct 96; Contract award expected in Jan 97; E&MD phase FY97-FY98; Production phase FY99-FY01. A draft Operational Requirements Document (ORD) is currently being staffed at USASOC, Ft. Bragg, NC. It is anticipated that this ORD will be forwarded to US SOCOM in early June 96 available to industry in June 96. Those interested please contact Jack Lillie or Alex Matejka.
