The Marine Corps Systems Command intends to award a sole source contract to Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, Inc., PO Box 1077, Murfreesboro, Tennessee 37133 for the procurement of safety modifications to upgrade 106 Special Application Scoped Rifle System (SASR), model M82A1A rifles. Barrett Firearms is a Small Business Concern and the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code is 3484 and size is 1,000 employees. This modification will convert the M82A1A rifles to the current production line model that includes safety initiatives, upgrade the plastic insert in the carrying case, replace the existing aluminum cleaning rod/kit, and provide for the procurement of six additional weapons. The total requirement involves modifying the bolt carrier to install three identical pins, chrome-lining chamber, bolt pin insertion and slotting the firing pin extension. The existing aluminum cleaning rod system will be replaced with a new less abrasive system. The carrying case will be upgraded with new ABS plastic to prevent additional scope damage. The procurement of six additional weapon systems will provide for the increase of pool assets for this modification as well as filling fleet shortages upon completion of the modification. The Marine Corps does not possess the drawing package associated with this requirement. Vendors who have the capability to provide the requirements for this contract should submit in writing technical qualifications not later than 20 JUN 96.
