Determine the origins, migration, and abundance of salmonids in the
offshore waters of the North Pacific Ocean and Bering Sea. This
procurement is a continuation of research begun in 1978 to meet U.S.
commitments to the research program of the North Pacific Anadromous
Fish Commission (NPAFC). The approach of the United States in this
research has been to apply scale pattern analysis techniques to
sockeye, chinook and coho salmon scale samples collected, and to us
parasite ''tags'' for identification of North American steelhead caught
in high seas fishery areas. Contract tasks include: (1) expand
analyses, interpretation, and summarization of recent sockeye coho, and
chinook salmon scale pattern studies done for the International North
Pacific Fisheries Commission (INPFC); (2) maintain large salmonid
tagging and scale database; and (3) provide scale samples, data or
research results to member nations. Concerns conducting similar work
for other INPFC-member nations are determined to have organizational
conflict of interest for this procurement, and will be considered
eligible to compete for contract award. Contract performance period is
one year, beginning with contract award, plus two additional option
years. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be
considered by the agency. (0138) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0004 19960520\A-0004.SOL)
