The Naval Sea Systems Command has a requirement for a small-scale version of the electric motor design successfully submitted in competition for the Integrated Power System's (IPS) ship propulsion motor. This laboratory version of the awarded design will include an Integrated Gate Bipolar Transistor converter, propulsion motor and DC load machine system for testing to mitigate technical risk on the full-scale design. It is anticipated that award will be made to Cegelec Projects, Ltd, Rugby, England, the developer of the system as subcontractor on the successful (awardee) IPS team. See Numbered Note(s): 22.
