Specialist, 410-786-5150. The Health Care Financing Administration has
a requirement for a contractor to assist in the Implementation and
Data Collection of the Medicare Beneficiary Healtlh Status Registry
(Registry). A major component is the Registry survey that will collect
health status and detailed demographic information from beneficiaries
that is not presently on Medicare administrative files. The Registry
survey data linked with the claims data will constitute the Registry.
The Registry will monitor the health status and utilization of health
care services for a large sample of Medicare beneficiaries throughout
their lifetime experience in the Medicare program. The Registry will
make a significant contribution in the area of health care information
resources and management. Through the Registry, it will be possible to
perform a broad range of analyses for policy development such as: (1)
population-based estimates of health status, (2) development of methods
for risk adjustment, (3) monitoring of health transitions, (4)
evaluation of the effects of treatment choices on health and
utilization of services, and (5) evaluation of the impact of change in
health delivery systems (including managed care) on beneficiaries and
their health. The Government anticipates a 60 month period of
performance. Request for copies of RFP HCFA 96-014/ELA must be in
writing, with the RFP number and title cited. Requests must be
submitted to the designated office within fifteen (15( calendar days of
this solicitation. Telephone requests will not be honored. Issuance of
RFP and award of any contract will be contingent upon receipt by HCFA
of required internal/external clearances and the availability of
