to seek interested in responding to a future Solicitation for tire
mainten ance training. TACOM is seeking . All responsible sources to
present this training beginning in Oct 96 on Military installations, to
US Military and DOD civilian person Nel in Europe and the United
States. Frequency and inte rval of training will be NO less than one
(1) and NO Mo re than five (5) classes per year for a period of two (2)
years. Together with the service, you will provide necessary classroom
materials, however, certain Military related materials, E.G., some
tire samples, Military manuals and videotapes will be provided as
needed by TACOM. TACOM will also coordinate with the applicable milit
Ary installations to provide the contractor use of necessary equipment
and facilities for the training (I.E. Video players, televisions and
Military tire service too LS and equipment). In general, the course
shall provide tire maintenance training for all levels of maintenance,
to include but not limited to: Operator, mechanic, inspectors and
maintenance management Personnel. The cour SE goals are: To improve
mmilitary readiness, enhance safety, reduce operating and maintenance
costs and incre Ase reutilization of properly retreaded and repaired
tires. Class size is estimated to be at least 10 students and NO more
than 20 students. Topics to be covered willinclude: Tire construction,
tire nomenclature and markings, differences between radial and Bias
ply tires, FAC tor affecting tire life, tire damage analysis, tire
puncture repairs,(I.E. Plugging and patching), tire inspec tion and
classification, servicing of multi-piece and single piece rim wheels
(in accordance with the lastest amendments to OSHA standard 29 CFR
1910.77), safe tire inflation practices and proper tire matching. We
plan to issue a Solicitation after serious offerors have expressed an
interest. Closing date for expressing interest in receiving a
Solicitation is fifteen (15) calendar DA ys from the publication of
