Work to be accomplished includes furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to accomplish the complete restoration and interior renovation of approximately 146,000 square feet of facility composed of research laboratories, associated administrative offices, and laboratory research support facilities. The construction effort will provide 91) contemporary utility service throughout the complex including a new chiller plant; (2) biomedical laboratory rehabilitation involving the upgrade of life safety, handicap, and HVAC to current industrial standards; (3) biomedical laboratory support facilities rehabilitation consisting of primarily HVAC upgrades; (4) the removal of all asbestos within the main research compound; and 95) the demolition of obsolete buildings. In addition the project will involve the construction of approximately 28,000 square feet of new facility to support the chiller plant, related mechanical needs, seminar spaces, glass wash requirements and a biotech research library. The estimated price is more than $10,000,000. The project has been developed with multiple phases with an initial period of performance of approximately 300 days, and optional phases totaling approximately 1,150 calendar days. A non-refundable fee of $50 per set of bid documents is required.
