Space Center, FL 32899. Lockheed Martin Space Operations (LMSO), NASAs
Space Shuttle Processing Contractor at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), FL,
seeks sources capable of providing engineering services for analysis
and recommended refurbishment of a 500 foot weather tower. This tower
was originally built at Kennedy Space Center, FL in 1964 by Stainless,
Inc. and over the years has undergone several modifications to add
platforms, antennas, cables and address corrosion concerns. LMSO
proposes further upgrades to perform corrosion control (including
member replacements as necessary), add seven (7) landings/platforms,
modify nine (9) landings/platforms, provide twenty (20) personnel
safety attachment points, replace ladder/skate system and improve
elevator reliability in compliance with the latest OSHA, ASTM, ASME &
AISC Standards. Successful offeror shall possess or employ the services
of a Professional Engineer (licensed in the State of Florida),
preferably with a minimum of five (5) years experience in the design
and analysis of guyed tower structures of 500 feet or taller and a
Level III NACE Certified Inspector. Analysis requirements include
complete coatings inspection and structural integrity computer modeling
to evaluate as-built tower condition and determine ability of tower to
support proposed upgrades. Structural evaluation shall include Finite
Element, Non-Linear analysis and AISC LDRF code check on entire tower
structure before and after addition of proposed upgrades. CAD design
drawing with cost estimates for upgrades and economic analysis for
refurbishment vs. replacement shall be included in the Scope of Work.
Completion within a fourteen (14) week period is desired. This synopsis
is for the sole purpose of identifying prospective suppliers and does
not commit LMSO to make an award, nor to reimburse costs of providing
requested information. Interested firms should forward indications of

of interest, data should be provided giving company capabilities,
experience in this or related field, and such other data as may be
useful in substantiating bona fide capability to provide the
