636-4343, Contracting Officer This requirement is a 100% small business
set-aside. The contractor shall furnish the following castings-2 ea
rudder hub casting and 2 ea trailing edge casting in accordance with
(USCG Plan No. 378-FRAM-E-562-001, Rev. B, Rudder), (ASTM Specificaiton
A27/A27M-91, standard specification for steel castings, carbon for
general application), (MIL-STD 1689A(SH), 23 November 1990,
fabrication, welding, inspection of ships structure), and (Government
Furnished Patterns). Material shall be cast steel, ASTM A-27, Grade
60-30, Class 1, except the maximum carbon content shall not exceed
0.25%. Castings shall be furnished in an as cast condition. Castings
shall meet the following non-destructive test in accordance with
paragraph 16, category H-2, structural castings of MIL-STD 1689(SH):
(1) visual inspection for dimension, surface conditions, trueness
(3/8'' in 2 feet, 3/4'' overall), and identifications marks; (2)
magnetic particle or liquid penetrant - 100% inspection of all
accessible surface areas within 3'' of surfaces to which welds will be
applied; (3) radiographic inspection - a minimum of 50% of each
casting and 100% areas indicated for radiographic testing in the plans.
Delivery shall be F.O.B. Point Destination - U.S. Coast Guard YARD,
2401 Hawkins Point Road, Baltimore, MD 21226, within 30 calendar days
after receipt of the Government furnished property. Approximate weight
of the rudder hub casting is 4,200 lbs. each and the approximate
weight of the trailing edge is 2,700 lbs. The overall length of the
trailing edge is approximately 13 feet. This notice is for
informational purposes for minority, women-owned and disadvantage
business enterprises: The Department of Transporation (DOT), Office of
Small Business and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), has a
program to assist minority, Women-owned and Disadvantaged Business
Enterprises to acquire short term working capital for
transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT
Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide
accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
