The Chicago Regional Office of Job Corps is announcing a market research/advertising contract to assist with the development and implementation of a marketing plan to attract economically disadvantaged young adults, ages 16-24, to apply for vocational training programs funded through the Department of Labor. These offices administer 10 residential training facilities in a 6-state area (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin). A wide variety of occupational training courses are offered as well as development of academic and work/social skills and placement assistance upon completion. The Department of Labor provides full tuition, room and board for approximately 3,200 training slots at a given time. Over the period of a year graduations and other types of terminations create the need for about 2,600 young men and 2,500 young women to maintain full capacity at the training facilities. Assistance is needed to attract sufficient numbers of eligible young adults, especially women, with the potential for success. The resulting contract will be for the period of July 1, 1996 through June 30, 1997, with two 1-year options. A pre-bid conference will be held at 10:00 AM, May 20, 1996 at the Chicago Regional Office of Job Corps, 6th Floor Conference Room, 230 S. Dearborn Street, Room 676.
