Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21005-5001 23 -- LEASE OF 45 VEHICLES Contact Point, Mr. Earl Sharp,
410/278-3415, Contracting Officer. The US Army wishes to lease 5 Sport
Utility Vehicles, 38 Transport Vehicles and 2 Box Ambulances, for two
45 day periods within a one year time frame. The vehicles will be used
in the northern Virginia and north central West Virginia areas. The
vehicles must meet the following performance specifications: drive a
minimum of 200 miles prior to refueling; operate in temperatures from
a negative 20 degrees fahrenheit to 100 degrees fahrenheit; be capable
of transporting troops in all weather conditions, including snow, ice,
mud and rain; be capable of driving up and down hills with a 10 percent
slope at normal speeds; and be capable of cross country movement of
troops and equipment over rough terrain. Common vehicle specifications
are: four wheel drive (with four wheel low capability), turbocharged
diesel engine, heavyduty automatic transmission, heavy duty step bumper
in rear, full size spare tire (all tires to be of radial type), master
key system similar to US Army CUCV, dual 12 volt battery system with
24 volt power conversion required for installation of communication
equipment (minimum 600 cold cranking amps, 12 volt 100 amp generator
required for installation of communication equipment and adequate power
for ambulance life support equipment/systems (145 amp generator for
ambulance), front brush guards, and woodland camouflage or OD green
vehicle painting required. Utility vehicle specifications are: enclosed
``blazer/bronco'' truck type vehicle; 1/2 or 3/4 ton, single axle; 5
passenger, 2 doors with vinyl bucket seats; rear cargo doors; and a
minimum payload of 1200 pounds. Transport vehicle specifications are:
pickup truck style vehicle; minimum 5/4 ton single axle; 3 passenger,
2 doors with standard vinyl bench seats; minimum of 8 foot bed; fold up
troop seats in the rear for eight passengers; minimum payload of 3,000
pounds; tarpaulin and bows with fold down frame/zipper and Velcro
closed rear (all passengers and equipment must be in the rear of the
truck, segregated from the driver, and the passengers in the rear of
the truck must not be able to see anything outside of the vehicle); and
all driver conversation and radio transmissions must be restricted to
the cab of the vehicle and must be undetected by passengers in the rear
of the truck. Ambulance specifications: minimum 5/4 ton single or dual
axle; all aluminum body type; 3 passenger, 2 door with standard vinyl
bench seat; mimimum 33,000 BTU a/c unit; 2 lower, 2 upper litters; and
a full size spare tire (compartment in body with access door). Sources
