COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 29,1996 PSA#1583National Cancer Institute, Purchase and Support Contracts Section, 6120
Executive Blvd, EPS/Room 638 MSC 7228, Bethesda MD 20892-7228 B -- ATM GENE SEQUENCING SOL RFQ60053-NS POC Patricia Haun,
Contracting Officer, (301) 402-4509. ATM Gene Sequencing in Norwegian
AT Families. The National Cancer Institute plans to procure on a sole
source basis under authority of FAR 6.302-1, in accordance with 41
U.S.C. 253(c)(1), ATM Gene Sequencing in Norwegian AT Families from
Norwegian Radium Hospital, Dept. of Genetics, P.O. Box 56 Montebello,
0310 Oslo, Norway. The purpose of this procurement is to determine
specific mutations in the ATM gene in Nowegian families reporting at
least one family member with Ataxia Telangiectasia. In order to
identify specific mutations in the ATM gene, cell lines need to be
established from blood samples and mutations are screened and sequenced
using specific techniques. It is proposed that Dr. Annelise Borresen,
Chief of Genetics, Institute for Cancer Research, Norwegian Radium
Hospital, Oslo, Norway perform the laboratory services required by DCEG
for the study of cancer in AT patients and their families in Norway,
because Dr. Borresen has sole access to the samples obtained from
Norwegian families with AT. As she is the only person experienced in
sequencing the ATM gene in these samples. Dr. Borresen is an
international expert in the field of molecular genetics and she has
developed the CDGE (Constant Denaturing Gel Electrophoresis) to screen
mutations, which will be used in this study. This notice of intent is
not a request for competitive proposals, however, if an interested
party believes they can meet the above specifications, they may submit
a statement of capabilities. Information furnished shall include
enough material, in sufficient detail, to perform a proper evaluation
of their ability to perform. Closing date is 20 days after publication
of this notice. SEE Note 22. NO collect calls will be accepted (0116) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0017 19960426\B-0002.SOL)
