equipment, materials, transportation, and supervision necessary for
removing the existing solar hot water heating system components,
including heavy timber sleepers/strongbacks, the panel assembly on the
roof, and tanks/equipment in the basement; removing existing built-up
roofing and insulation; providing and installing a new single-ply
membrane roof and insulation; removing 53 existing windows; providing
and installing 53 new custom-sized heavy commercial aluminum windows,
new wood window stools, new wood aprons and patching existing openings;
providing and installing one new insulating panel in a frame above an
existing transom; brickwork repairs, including tuckpointing
approximately 6,000 sf (surface area of brick walls) of existing
brickwork, resetting 12 stone sills with new copper flashing, providing
new copper cavity wall flashing, new anchors, removing sealer and
efflorescence, new weep holes, cutouts and new brickwork as required to
install new flashing, and miscellaenous new brickwork and repairs shown
on drawings; patching several water-damaged areas on the first floor;
and incidental related work at U.S. Coast Guard Station Rockland,
Rockland, Maine (Knox County). Solicitation packages to be available on
or about 30 April 1996. Packages may be obtained by submitting a
written request, with a non-refundable check for $20 (payable to U.S.
Coast Guard) to USCG, CEU Providence, 300 Metro Center Blvd., Warwick,
RI 02886, attn: Susan Hetrick. Requests will be honored until supply
is exhausted. The bid opening date will be on or about 30 May 1996. SIC
is 1542. This project is issued pursuant to the Small Business
Competitiveness Demonstration Program, and is unrestricted. THE
FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS PROVIDED TO ASSIST MINORITY, WOMEN-OWNED, AND
DISADVANTAGED BUSINESS ENTERPRISES: The Dept of Transportation (DOT)
Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) has
programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business
enterprises to acquire short-term working capital and bonding
assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to
any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding
Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, payment and
performance bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an
80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are
available under the DOT Short-term Lending Program (STLP) at prime
interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The max. line
