COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 22,1996 PSA#1578JPL, Dr. Richard Capps, Mail Stop 180-701, 4800 Oak Grove Drive,
Pasadena, CA 91109-8099 A -- ORIGINS TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOP Sol 96/2 due 050196. Contact Point:
Dr. Richard W. Capps, (818)354-0720; Email address:
richard.w.capps@jpl.nasa.gov. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory/California
Institute of Technology (JPL/CIT), operating under a prime contract
with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), invites
all qualified organizations to submit applications for candidates to
be considered for participation as members of technical panels at the
Origins Technology Workshop to be held in Southern California on June
4-6, 1996. The Workshop is jointly sponsored by the NASA Office of
Space Science and Office of Space Access and Technology. The objective
of the workshop is to advise NASA regarding the current
state-of-the-art in large space optical systems technologies and
technology development themes for a possible future technology program
supporting the NASA Origins Program. Four technical panels will be
selected in the following areas: (1) Space Telescope and Interferometer
Systems; (2) Large Space Optics; (3) Hyper-Precision and Deployable
Space Structures; and (4) Space Astronomical Sensor Component
Technologies. Participation will be strictly limited to individuals
with strong and broad technical knowledge in the relevant areas who
will contribute in the technical workshop format. Because of space
limitations and a desire for institutional balance, total workshop
attendance and total attendance from individual organizations will be
limited. Organizations responding to this announcement should nominate
candidates for specific panels and should provide a one (1) page
statement of technical expertise and qualifications for each candidate
submitted. No more than one (1) application per panel will be accepted
from any single organization. Final selection of the panel members will
be made by the Workshop Program Committee. In order to achieve
technical balance, the Program Committee will also issue invitations
separately from this solicitation. This opportunity does not include
financial support. Participants are responsible for their own travel
and lodging costs, as well as a workshop registration fee of
approximately $120. Questions regarding the workshop may be directed to
Dr. Richard Capps, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, (818)354-0720.
Applications should be faxed to (818)393-6869 no later than close of
business May 1, 1996, to the attention of Dr. Daniel Coulter, Jet
Propulsion Laboratory. It is anticipated that selections will be
announced by May 15, 1996. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP).
