CONSTRUCTION) FOR DIGITAL LINE GRAPH CAPABILITIES POC Lynda Carlson,

a solicitation. This is a request for information. The U.S. Geological
Survey (USGS) is interested in developing a contract mechanism to
provide revision services for digital products of the National Mapping
Division. The specific services may include any or all of the
following activities: Production and/or revision of Digital Line Graphs
(DLG) to various projections, scales (1:24,000, 1:25,000, and
1:100,000), horizontal/vertical datums, file formats (DLG-3 and DLG/F,
NMD is transitioning from a DLG-3 data model to a new feature based
DLG/F model), and content levels (Core and Limited Update); the use of
a variety of sources including Digital Orthophoto Quadrangle (DOQ)
imagery, Digital Raster Graphics (DRG), National Aerial Photo Program
(NAPP) photography, and vector data from NMD and other organizations;
integration/conflation of multiple digital data files; the use of
monoscopic and/or stereoscopic photogrammetric instruments; some
production within a classified facility (some portion of the expected
workload shall require the use of classified imagery);
photointerpretation from imagery, and acquisition of ancillary digital
data, imagery, and related map information when Government Furnished
Material (GFM) is unavailable. GFM may include any or all of the
following materials: DOQs, DLGs, DRGs, NAPP, production software, and
published maps along with other project materials. Industry response is
solicited to indicate the levels of interest and ability in providing
these types of services. All responsible parties are encouraged to
respond in writing. All responses should contain sufficient technical
documentation and descriptive literature to sufficiently describe the
capability and capacity to provide the required services and products
in the above description. Technical information and commercial pricing
in response to the above description is being requested from private
industry in as much detail as organizations are willing to provide.
Information on industry support for feature based models in general,
and specifically for support of data revision within such a model is
solicited. Information on industry capacity to obtain and operate a
secret-collateral facility is solicited. Proprietary data that contains
restrictions on its release should not be submitted. Neither a draft
statement of work nor specifications are available from the USGS. No
formal solicitation or contract will result from this synopsis for
industry information; any subsequent solicitation will be synopsized
prior to its release. Information responding to this request should be
received within forty-five days from publication of this notice.
