58 -- SATELLITE COMMUNICATIONS (KU-BAND) SERVICE FOR EUROPE AND PACIFIC SOL F01620 POC Lt Keith Sudder,SATCOM Program Manager. The Weather Management Branch, HQ SSG OL-B/SDFM, is seeking information to identify sources who can provide communications services to government-owned Ku-ban VSATs (Very Small Aperture Terminals ) located in EUROPE (England, Germany, Italy, and Turkey) and PACIFIC (Korea and Japan). The VSATs, HNS (Hughes Network System) PES (Personal Earth Station) VSATs, require EUROPE and PACIFIC hub stations to be supplied by a communications services provider. The EUROPE and PACIFIC hub stations, each, must be equipped with HNS standard baseband/IF VSAT network equipment and appropriate antenna and RF equipment to transmit a 512 kbps (uncode transmission rate) TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) outroute carrier from the VSATs. The hub stations can be either C or Ku-band and can be shared with other users. The services must also include appropriate space segment to support the EUROPE and PACIFIC VSAT networks, and backhaul links to relay VSAT network data and management signals between the hub stations and Offutt AFB. Your response should include a brief description of space segment (e.g. satellite, transponder), hub stations (e.g. locations, transmission characteristics, maintenance staffing), and backhaul links (e.g. mode of transmission - satellite or terrestrial, communication carrier, installation and interface) and technical literature (no detailed cost/pricing data).
