Research Laboratory has an effort to provide the U.S. Navy with an
alternative diaphragm material and diaphragm design to replace the
asbestos diaphragm in the electrolytic cells in the Treadwell 6L16
Electrolytic Oxygen Generators (EOG) presently used in the submarine
fleet. The contractor shall determine the material and design,
fabricate, test and document new diaphragm materials in electrolytic
cells. The procurement also has an optional tasking which involves the
running of a set of sixteen cells containing the new diaphragm
material in the EOG for a minimum period of 2000 hours. NRL intends to
conduct negotiation with Treadwell Corporation, P.O. Box 458, 341
Railroad Street, Thomaston, CT 06787. Treadwell Corporation is the only
known source, uniquely qualified to provide this requirement. No
