RICHARDSON, (601) 689-8367 This is a combined synopsis solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation Number N62306-96-R-0003 is issued as a Request for Proposal. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 36. This procurement is not set aside for small business. The Standard Industrial Classification code is 3812 and business size standard is 750 employees. This requirement is for a fixed price requirements contract for Line Item 0001 Expandable Bathythermograph Probes Sippican T-10 or equal, in accordance with the salient characteristics shown below, for an estimated quantity of 1380 cases (12 per case) over a period of two (2) years. The probes are used to collect temperature data profiles of the ocean to various depths (depending on the model) while underway on oceanographic vessels. Salient characteristics include the following: 1) Temperature: The probe shall provide direct measurement of temperature in water to an accuracy of plus or minus 0.2 degrees Celcius. Measurement range of temperature shall be minus 2.2 degrees Celcuis to 35.6 degrees Celcius; 2) Depth: The probe shall provide an indirect computed measurement of depth related to the probe fall rate through the water column. The probe fall rate shall be such that the computed depth measurement is accurate to plus or minus 2 per cent of the actual depth. Depth range shall be between 0 and 200 meters; 3) Underway Speed: The probe shall measure temperature and depth according to specifications stated above respectively at underway ship speeds in a range of 0 to 10 knots; 4) Compatibility: The probes shall be compatible with existing LM2A deck mounted probe launchers, LM3A hand-held probe launchers, and LM4A thru-hull launchers. The probes shall be compatible with existing Mark 9 and Mark 12 data acquisition systems. Delivery will be at the Naval Oceanographic Office, Stennis Space Center, Ms. Required delivery date is 120 days after issuance of delivery order. Thirty (30) days will be allowed for inspection and acceptance which will be performed at the Naval Oceanographic Office, Stennis Space Center, MS.
