Contract Specialist, 202-874-2539. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing
(BEP) is interested in obtaining information on a commercially
available Computer Line Pattern and Engraving System. The purpose of
this system is to automate the design and intaglio line work images and
security pattern features for U.S. currency and other security
documents. This system must allow designers to create and produce
complex, high resolution security line patterns such as geometric lathe
(Guilloche), medallion rulings and micro lettering patterns. This
system must produce, manipulate, output and store sophisticated,
intricate patterns and rulings. This system must be able to combine
existing intaglio line images and/or continuous tone images with new
design elements for a complete product model. It must provide monocolor
or multicolor separations suitable for intaglio and offset litho
pre-press manufacturing processes. It must also accept import of image
information from a Mac-based electronic pre-press system. The BEP
intends to utilize the streamlined acquisition procedures of FAR Part
12 to acquire this system. Interested parties are encouraged to provide
the following data relating to this product: 1) product literature
describing the hardware and software functional capabilities, to
include a description of input and output capabilities; 2) a
description of how an existing system could be customized for use by
the BEP for security purposes; 3) a description of any product
warranty; 4) a description of after-sale support; 5) delivery terms; 6)
a description of your quality assurance program in place including a
description of existing final test and check out procedures; and 7) any
information relative to equipment installation site similar to the BEP.
Interested parties are requested to indicate whether an existing system
is available for demonstration. The requested information should be
forwarded to the Contracting Officer, Currency Contracts Division,
Bureau of Engraving and Printing, 14th & C Streets, S.W., Washington,
DC 22028 on or before thirty (30) days after publication of this
