COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 26,1996 PSA#1538EXTENSION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE (DOD) PILOT MENTOR-PROTEGE

1 (800) 553-1858; or Dora Thomas, (703) 697-9383. The DoD FY-1996
Authorization Act extends the date for new program applications to
September 30, 1996. Accordingly, DoD is offering an opportunity for
potential Mentors to submit requests for participation in the MPP for
credit only. Requests for participation in the MPP should be prepared
in accordance with the DoD Policy for the Pilot Mentor-Protege Program,
Appendix I of the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation. Companies
interested in participating in the MPP are not required to submit the
letter of intent. To expedite the review process, applicants may submit
the Mentor-Protege agreement with the initial request. Please submit
requests to: Director, DoD Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business
Utilization, 3061 Defense Pentagon, Washington, DC 20301-3061. DoD will
continue to support the developmental assistance programs of current
program participants. However, under statute, reimbursement to Mentor
firms for costs incurred in furnishing developmental assistance after
September 30, 1996, is not authorized. If statutory authorization is
obtained to extend this period, DoD will publish guidance accordingly.
