Contracting Officer, 202-707-0422. The Library of Congress requires the
design, fabrication and installation of two self-contained,
environmentally controlled exhibition cases that will attractively
display, on a rotating basis, some of America's greatest document and
book treasures to the highest preservation and security standards.
Environmental systems incorporated into the cases shall allow
temperature, relative humidity, pollutant and lighting controls
independent of the exhibition hall's ambient conditions. The cases
shall protect the treasures against security threats, such as
defacement, theft, water, smoke, fire, firearms, etc. The cases will be
used in a major, multi-year exhibition, ''The Treasures of the Library
of Congress'', which will open in April 1997. The two cases are to be
aesthetically compatible with the basic design for the Treasures
exhibition, the other surrounding cases, and the architecture of the
Thomas Jefferson Building, Washington, D.C. Interested parties may
