The Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) intends to place a sole source contract for four years with AMT Associates, 19 Stuart Street, Medfield, MA 02502 for PSION hand held computers and system development services. The PSION hand held computer will be utilize to conduct a campus-wide physical inventory of Automated Information Systems (AIS) equipment. The PSION hand held computer equipment will be integrated into the current Help Desk System (Expert Advisor) and the Services, Technicians, and Asset Tracking (STATS) System that is under development. The PSION hand held units will be utilized in the field to track a variety of computer support services. The development services required are the application programming tasks associated with integrating the PSION hardware into the existing Expert Advisor and STATS systems. A complete physical inventory of all AIS equipment that Operations Network Support Office (ONSO) supports will include the entire PTO campus. After the conclusion of the initial physical inventory, the PSION units will be utilized to perform standard inventory maintenance tasks such as equipment moves, replacements, and repairs. The PSION system is capable of handling multiple applications including the Help Desk Call Dispatch and inventory. The Expert advisor dispatch module will communicate directly to each PSION hand held unit. The field technicians will transmit back data regarding status of work performed. The PSION unit will, also, run a second program for on-going equipment maintenance tasks such as equipment moves or component replacements. The hand held computer product(s) are manufactured by PSION Corporation and offered to the market place through distributors who possess sole reseller rights for distribution in specific geographically areas. PSION exclusively is legally and operationally the only firm able to authorize which companies will sell and support these products. The AMT company is the sole distributor for the Washington, DC; Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia area. No other source has the necessary capabilities, knowledge and experience to provide the products and services in a timely manner. See Note 22. (0053)
