The scope of work includes the establishment of the West fiber optic loop cable to be constructed on the Austin Bergstrom International Airport. The installation is comprised of an underground ductbank/loop cable system. The work consists of installing concrete encased duct bank and approximately 14,000 feet of underground duct bank system consisting of embedded PVC ducts with a concrete cap and manholes. Approximately 64,000 feet of fiber optic and copper control is to be furnished and installed in the contractor built and sponsor furnished ductbank system. The construction site is located within the Airport boundaries. Estimated price range is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. There will be a $100.00 non-refundable charge for the plans and specifications. The proposed procurement is unrestricted regarding business size. The BOD is an approximate date only. The Standard Industrial Classification Code for this procurement is 1623. For Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), has programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are also available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
