The Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division, Point Mugu, CA intends to modify an existing contract with Western Design Howden (WDH) to add the procurement of two (2) first article Linkless Ammunition Loaders, level III drawings, and logistics support for the U.S. Air Force on a sole source basis. The loader shall service the F-15 and F-16 gun systems (M61A1/A2). The loader shall interface with the M61A1/A2 gun systems and load 20mm M50 and PGU series ammunition into the aircraft gun systems while downloading unfired rounds and spent cartridge cases. The Air Force will acquire this capability from the Navy's design which was procured under the WDH contract. The contractor holds proprietary rights to the Navy loader components which will not be available to the Navy until FY-97. The loaders will be acquired as Non-Developmental Items. This effort will be priced on a firm fixed price basis. The period of performance for the design modification/fabrication of the first article units shall be nine (9) months from the date of award.
