602-3102. The purpose of this synopsis is to notify industry that the
Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) has a requirement for the detail
design and construction of the Landing Platform Dock (LPD) 17 program.
NAVSEA intends to issue the Draft Request for Proposal (RFP) on or
about 16 February 1996. NAVSEA is seeking a Full Service Contractor
(FSC) to complete the detail design, construction, ship systems
integration and logistics of the LPD 17 Lead Ship and up to two (2)
options. The Government is interested in initiating an IPPD approach
with the FSC for the life of the LPD 17 program. The Draft RFP will be
posted on the INTERNET. Interested parties can access this server
through a FTP. This can be accomplished in the following manner: FTP
session to host ftp.navsea.navy.mil. The login ID will be CONTRACT and
CONTRACT should be used as the password. Upon login, you will be in
file area PUB/CONTRACTS. The DRAFT RFP, including related files, can
then be downloaded. Interested parties should be in binary mode when
copying files rather than ASCII. A limited number of hard copies will
be available on a first come, first served basis beginning on or about
16 February 1996 at NAVSEA Industry Liaison Office, Room 5E40 in
Zachary Taylor Building (National Center #3), 2531 Jefferson Davis
Highway, Arlington, VA. A hard copy of this information package will be
maintained in the NAVSEA Industry Liaison Office. Clarification
questions and comments on the Draft RFP should be forwarded no later
than 7 March 1996. Parties are requested to submit clarification
questions or any specific issues relating to the LPD 17 Draft RFP
electronically to: BOURBEAU_SHARIE@HQ.NAVSEA.NAVY.MIL. NAVSEA will host
a second program briefing on the LPD 17 program on 06 March 1996. The
briefing will begin at 0800 hrs and will be in Room 3S11 at National
Center #3, 2531 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA 22242-5160.
