A new wire electric discharge machine (EDM) is required. Specifications include the following machine controls: 32 bit CPU multi-tasking CNC operating system w/self-diagnostic I/O data checks, 8 Mbytes of system memory, two 3.5'' floppy disk drives, RS232-C port, automatic power recovery system, automatic voltage regulator, cutting gap detection to reduce wire breakage, and 3 phase 208 VAC power supply. Specifications include the following machine graphics: 14'' color graphic CRT capable of x-y, xy-xz and three dimensional displays, and program display while machine is cutting, showing actual position of cut. Specifications include the following machine features: submerged and non-submersible cutting capability, a front tank cover that slides and drops to allow easy access to work piece, water deionizer, dielectric cooling unit, sapphire or diamond wire guides, average machining current of 40 amps AC or DC, ''u'' shaped table, ceramic components for table and upper and lower arms, cutting area of approximately 12x8x7 inches, table travel in x axis 12-13 inches, table travel in y axis 7-9 inches, table travel in z axis 6-7 inches, taper cutting angle of approximately 10 degrees, x and y axes exchange, direct drive ball screws for x and y axis with an in-line closed loop feedback system, backlash compensator, positioning accuracy to .00012 (entire table travel) of an inch, and repeatability of .00008 of an inch. Specifications include the following machine options: smartcam system (off line input), fine finish electrolysis free cutting circuit, Ebbco duplex ''hurricane'' filtration system with deionizing vessel, and basic EDM tooling package to hold work piece.
