acquire Distributed Resources for the National Institutes of Health
(NIH). The Distributed Resources is focused on NIH's requirements for
support of distributed computing. This contract will provide NIH the
resources necessary to acquire state-of-the-art distributed systems and
related information technologies in a cost-efficient and
technologically responsive manner in order to maintain the highest
possible levels of support to the NIH users. This acquisition is also
to acquire desktop application software, software maintenance, software
program management for desktop applications and network equipment,
network design installation and maintenance services. A
firm-fixed-price, fixed-price with economic price adjustment for labor
intensive items, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity type
contract is planned. A five year total contract life is planned. A
Request for Information (RFI), including a questionnaire, will be
provided to industry approximately 15 calender days after publication
of this notice. Vendors will have approximately 3 weeks to respond to
the questionnaire. The Government will not formally respond to vendor
comments or questions but may consider incorporating comments into
revisions to the specification. Qualified firms are required to submit
their request to be placed on the Distributed Resources source list in
writing to the Contracting Officer indicated above. Sources responding
to this notice shall indicate whether they are a large, small,
disadvantaged or woman-owned business. For this synopsis, a business
concern is considered small if the number of employees does not exceed
1,000. The Government will not distribute printed copies of the RFI.
The RFI will be made available to industry through the Hanscom
Electronic RFP Bulletin Board (HERBB). The HERBB can be accessed
through a computer modem, 24 hours per day, by calling 617/377-1487.
