70 -- ADP SYSTEM MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE Mr. Donald C. Augustyn, (312/751-4535). The U.S. Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) seeks information about the availability of mainframe and local area network (LAN) system management software which provides the listed functionalities: 1.) anticipate, predict, and resolve system, network and integrated automated operations problems. Must ``link'' a problem job back t its originator; 2.) quickly analyze and help resolve critical performance problems; 3.) provide system programmer functions (for example, adding members to the linklist) to minimize the number of unscheduled IPLs; 4.) does not require multiple work stations for operation; 5.) provides support for all new releases of RRB commercially available software and hardware within 90 days of release; 6.) functionally integrate with RRB's current software and hardware products; 7.) provide a graphical-type (common user access) environment; 8.) possess automated operations capabilities including but not limited to: automated job scheduling, automated console management, automated notification, and automated output distribution; 9.) provide centralized help desk functionality; 10.) provide automated asset identification and inventory to include mainframe, LAN, wireless, voice, and imaging assets; 11.) facilitate documentation of server and workstation configuration(s); 12.) provide cost accounting information collection and customizable cost allocations; 13.) provide disaster recovery, backup, and restart automation assistance including recovery of data in a mixed database and mainframe/LAN interlinked environment, support on-site and off-site electronic vaulting; 14.) allow issuing of commands from within the monitor/management package; 15.) examine performance indicators such as response time and provide current service level information, including hardware maintenance performance comparables measured against competitive offerings; 16.) maintain a historical record of activities; 17.) capture and display software and hardware-generated messages; 18.) provide hardware and software system modeling/simulation capabilities; 19.) generate current, historical, and projection reports on, for example, system performance, availability, and resource utilization; 20.) provide LANs with electronic software distribution and version control; 21.) provide LAN and WAN interaction with virus protection; 22.) provide the ability for LAN analysis including but not limited to: network traffic analysis, packet, frame, and protocol analysis, analysis of network errors, and response time within the LAN and to external resources; 23.) allow flexibility to meet future needs which include interconnecting field offices through a wide area network, where the number of field offices may increase or decrease over time; 24.) provide internal security considerations; 25.) provide next-day and real-time service-level and exception-based operation disruption reporting delivered through microcomputers, voice mailbox capabilities, and text-based pagers. The proposed software must interface with the current RRB hardware/software/LAN environment. To provide a response to this notice, vendors must obtain a copy of the document describing the current RRB environment. To obtain this document, vendors must submit a request o company letterhead including a stamped, self-addressed business envelope. These requests should be submitted within 15 calendar days of publication of this notice. Upon receipt of the RRB document, by return mail, interested parties should submit hardcopy literature describing the software products(s), pricing and General Services Administration (GSA) contract number, if applicable. Also requested is a statement of vendor qualifications, experience and references concerning the described software. The vendor hardcopy documents must be received at the RRB by close of business, March 15, 1996. This is not a request for proposals nor a request for software development. No solicitation document exists. No telephone calls will be accepted. Acknowledgement of submission receipt will not be made. (033)
