North Rush Street, Chicago, IL 60611 70 -- ADP SYSTEM MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE Mr. Donald C. Augustyn,
(312/751-4535). The U.S. Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) seeks
information about the availability of mainframe and local area network
(LAN) system management software which provides the listed
functionalities: 1.) anticipate, predict, and resolve system, network
and integrated automated operations problems. Must ``link'' a problem
job back t its originator; 2.) quickly analyze and help resolve
critical performance problems; 3.) provide system programmer functions
(for example, adding members to the linklist) to minimize the number
of unscheduled IPLs; 4.) does not require multiple work stations for
operation; 5.) provides support for all new releases of RRB
commercially available software and hardware within 90 days of release;
6.) functionally integrate with RRB's current software and hardware
products; 7.) provide a graphical-type (common user access)
environment; 8.) possess automated operations capabilities including
but not limited to: automated job scheduling, automated console
management, automated notification, and automated output distribution;
9.) provide centralized help desk functionality; 10.) provide
automated asset identification and inventory to include mainframe, LAN,
wireless, voice, and imaging assets; 11.) facilitate documentation of
server and workstation configuration(s); 12.) provide cost accounting
information collection and customizable cost allocations; 13.) provide
disaster recovery, backup, and restart automation assistance including
recovery of data in a mixed database and mainframe/LAN interlinked
environment, support on-site and off-site electronic vaulting; 14.)
allow issuing of commands from within the monitor/management package;
15.) examine performance indicators such as response time and provide
current service level information, including hardware maintenance
performance comparables measured against competitive offerings; 16.)
maintain a historical record of activities; 17.) capture and display
software and hardware-generated messages; 18.) provide hardware and
software system modeling/simulation capabilities; 19.) generate
current, historical, and projection reports on, for example, system
performance, availability, and resource utilization; 20.) provide LANs
with electronic software distribution and version control; 21.)
provide LAN and WAN interaction with virus protection; 22.) provide the
ability for LAN analysis including but not limited to: network traffic
analysis, packet, frame, and protocol analysis, analysis of network
errors, and response time within the LAN and to external resources;
23.) allow flexibility to meet future needs which include
interconnecting field offices through a wide area network, where the
number of field offices may increase or decrease over time; 24.)
provide internal security considerations; 25.) provide next-day and
real-time service-level and exception-based operation disruption
reporting delivered through microcomputers, voice mailbox capabilities,
and text-based pagers. The proposed software must interface with the
current RRB hardware/software/LAN environment. To provide a response to
this notice, vendors must obtain a copy of the document describing the
current RRB environment. To obtain this document, vendors must submit
a request o company letterhead including a stamped, self-addressed
business envelope. These requests should be submitted within 15
calendar days of publication of this notice. Upon receipt of the RRB
document, by return mail, interested parties should submit hardcopy
literature describing the software products(s), pricing and General
Services Administration (GSA) contract number, if applicable. Also
requested is a statement of vendor qualifications, experience and
references concerning the described software. The vendor hardcopy
documents must be received at the RRB by close of business, March 15,
1996. This is not a request for proposals nor a request for software
development. No solicitation document exists. No telephone calls will
be accepted. Acknowledgement of submission receipt will not be made.
