AMSSC-AD, NATICK MA 01760-5011 84 -- CHEMICAL/BIOLOGICAL PROTECTIVE AVIATOR'S GLOVES SOL
DAAK60-96-U-0011 DUE 032996 POC Chemical Technologist Rita Devarakonda
(508) 233-5467 (Site Code DAAK60) The U.S. Army Natick Research,
Development and Engineering Center is conducting a MARKET SURVEY to
identify world-wide sources who are developing concepts, currently
producing, or have available aviators' Chemical/Biological(CB)
protective gloves and glove systems. Gloves/glove systems desired
should be suitable for use by aircrew members in combat, combat
support, and combat service support operational missions in helicopters
both during dismounted and flight operations. The glove/glove system
may be considered disposable, and as such is not subject to the
durability requirements of the rest of the CB protective ensemble. The
glove/glove system may be modular to permit the crewmember to tailor
protection level change, without degrading protection below that
required for in-cockpit protection. The CB gloves/glove system shall
provide aircrew members with protection against heat and flame. Design
of the glove system shall allow aircrew members wearing it to
maintain:maximum tactility, flexibility, breathability, fire
retardancy, and comfort while in the cockpit. In order to effectively
perform their normal secondary (dismounted-ground operations outside
the aircraft) mission-related functions, a greater level of protection
is required, and reduced levels of the properties listed above
(tactility, etc.), are acceptable. Protection requirements: The
protective glove system should provide crewmembers with a 95% required
(99% desired) likelihood of surviiving the effects of CB agent induced
symptoms (e.g. miosis, etc., that could cause flight hazards) during 12
continuous hours of operations following CB contamination. The
dismounted scenario would include exposure to 10 gm/m sq. of liquid
agent (HD, TGD, VX), followed by a wear time of 12 hours (24 hours
desired) before changing. Interested firms must submit within 60 days
of this synopsis, information on their products. This information
should include proposed or actual item descriptions and illustrations
which detail concept or design, any performance data available, and
pricing information. The response should also include information about
the company's facilities. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. NO
SOLICITATION DOCUMENT IS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. (0032) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0233 19960202\84-0002.SOL)
